The Perverted Gospel - Part I

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:6-8

In this issue of The Prophetic Messenger, we will begin a message titled "The Perverted Gospel." We will look at some examples of why people are deceived in believing another gospel.

1. False Doctrines Would Arise

In Galatians 1 the apostle Paul speaks to the Christians of that day about how quickly they were deceived into believing another gospel. In Galatians 1:6-10 it says "6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ." Verses 8 and 9 show how we can discern if preaching is of God or the devil. In Galatians 1:8-9 it says "8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." In this passage the apostle Paul states that if any man (which included himself or a fallen angel or evil spirit) "preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."

In I Timothy 4:1-5 it says "1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer." This passage, which refers to the latter times which is our time today, states "some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;" We are seeing many who were once in the faith now being deceived by the devil. Also, in Philippians 3:13-19 it says "13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. 16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. 17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an example. 18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)"

2. The Wholesome Word Would Not Be Preached

In I Timothy 6:3-7 it says "3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." We see how the apostle Paul was warning us against false teachers. Ask yourself this question: "When is the last time you heard a message preached about godliness?" But Paul warned against the message "that gain is godliness:" Paul said "from such withdraw thyself." Notice what Jesus said about people's possessions. In Luke 12:13-15 it says "13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. 14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you? 15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth."

The word surmising from Webster's Dictionary means "to infer something without sufficiently conclusive evidence, a guess." There is so much surmising concerning the return of Jesus Christ. Some examples of this are
  1. The tribulation is starting this year (which people have been saying this for years and are wrong).
  2. The identity of the antichrist (they are wrong).
  3. The solar and lunar eclipses coming in 2014 and 2015 (some believe may herald the second coming of the Messiah and Armageddon.)

On a news website there is an article titled "Sign In The Heavens, What's Coming Part II" (Note 1). A quote from this article is as follows: "February 20th, 2008, at Temple Mount in Jerusalem, Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries in Bonney Lake Washington saw something, a total lunar eclipse also called a 'blood moon' for its reddish hue. 'I thought 'wow' that looks just like what the Lord was talking about in the last days,' said Pastor Mark Biltz with El Shaddai Ministries. In the book of Joel, Chapter 2, verse 31 it says, 'The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.' 'So I did a comparison. I went to NASA's website to see if there would be any total solar or lunar eclipses in the next 10 years, said Biltz. And what he found were four in a row. 'To my surprise, in 2014 NASA has what it calls a Tetrad-4, total lunar eclipses back to back,' said Biltz. And two significant solar eclipses as well. In 2014, on March 20th to 21st, April 15th and October 8th. And in 2015 on April 4th, September 13, and September 28th. But it wasn't the number of eclipses that caught his attention. It was the dates on the Jewish calendar on which they fell.........But we won't have to wait until 2015 to find out if what Pastor Biltz and his messianic colleagues believe is true. We could all know, they say, in as little as two months."

We see how scriptures are used with science and the Jewish calendar for them to come to this conclusion. Let see what Jesus says about the signs from heaven. In Matthew 24:29-31 it says "29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."

In Revelation 8:12 it says "And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise." Also, in Joel 2:10 it says "The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:"

Looking at these passages of scripture it is clear that much more will take place in the heavens, than just a lunar eclipse, before the return of Jesus Christ.

In closing, Titus 1:14 says "Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth." We must keep the Word Of God (Old King James Version only) first as the authority and use other resources to confirm the scriptures, not to contradict them.

Memory Verses

As Christians if we want to live in victory and if we want to be able to share the Word Of God with others we must know the Word of God ourselves. Let's see what the Bible says about this. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalm 119:11. " If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7. "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed." John 8:31. We encourage you to put the following scriptures in your heart: Matthew 4:7, Job 3:25, Revelation 3:16, I Chronicles 10:13, James 4:4, Psalm 10:6, Acts 1:3, Song of Solomon 8:6, Galatians 3:23, I Corinthians 11:3. Use only the Old King James version of the Holy Bible. (If you have any questions about this please see the book New Age Bible Versions, by G.A. Riplinger ©1993, ISBN 0-9635845-0-2.)
