Why The Book Of Revelation Is Not In Chronological Order

In order to understand what will happen before the return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ it is important to understand in what order the events in the book of Revelation take place. In studying Bible prophecy or anything in the Holy Bible (Old King James Version Only), it is very important that we never add or take away from the Word of God.

It says in Revelation 22:18-19 "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

So for those people who say we don't have to agree on prophecy, that only salvation matters, the Holy Bible is clear that if a person adds to this book God shall add unto that person the plagues that are written in this book. Or if anyone takes away from this book, God shall take away that person's part out of the book of life, and of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

1. There Are Seven Years of Tribulation

Our Saviour Jesus Christ told us that great tribulation would come on the Christians before His return.

In Matthew 24:21-22 it says "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened."

Also, in Revelation 7:14 it says "And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."

We see from these two scriptures that great tribulation will come upon the Christians before the return of Jesus Christ. The scriptures also show us a seven year period of time. The two witnessess are on the earth for a thousand two hundred and sixty days or 3 years 165 days in Revelation 11:3 it says "And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth."

After the two witnesses are killed by the Antichrist, their dead bodies lie in the street for three days and an half. And after the three and an half days, God raises them up and they both ascend into heaven. In Revelation 11:14 it says "The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly."

The woes are spoken of after the fourth trumpet sounded in Revelation 8:13 it says "And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!" These are three more trumpets yet to sound and each woe is past after the trumpet sounds.

The two witnesses and the seven trumpets show us the first 3 years and 6 months. In Revelation 13:5 it says "And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months." Also, in Daniel 7:25 it says "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time." From these two scriptures we see the Antichrist after his false resurrection will continue 42 months or 3 years and 6 months. These scriptures are showing the second 3 -1/2 year period for a total of 7 years of tribulation.

Memory Verses

As Christians if we want to live in victory and if we want to be able to share the Word Of God with others we must know the Word of God ourselves. Let's see what the Bible says about this. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalm 119:11. " If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7. "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed." John 8:31. We encourage you to put the following scriptures in your heart: John 10:10, Psalm 16:11, I Corinthians 1:31, Isaiah 40:31, Acts 5:32, Proverbs 3:5-6, Matthew 5:8, I Samuel 9:9, Jude 1:20, Philippians 4:6.
