The Perverted Gospel - Part II

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:6-8

In this issue of The Prophetic Messenger, we will continue the message titled "The Perverted Gospel." We will look at some examples of why people are deceived into believing another gospel.

1. People Would Not Endure Sound Doctrine

The apostle Paul warned in the last days that people would not endure sound doctrine. II Timothy 4:3-4 says "3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." Notice these passages of scripture say that not only would the people not endure sound doctrine, but they would turn away from the truth unto fables. The Word Of God (Old King James Version only) is the truth. Jesus said in John 8:31-32 "31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." We as Christians must know the Word of God so that we will not believe fables from men. (We will share more in another section of this message.)

2. Famine In The Land For The Word Of God

The prophet Amos prophesied that a time would come when there would be a famine in the land. In Amos 8:11-14 it says "11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. 13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst. 14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again." Notice that this famine was not of bread or water but of hearing the Word Of God. We see and hear very few ministers who preach from the Old King James Version of the Bible anymore. Most are using perverted versions. If these ministers really read these perverted versions, they would find out that these versions deny the very beliefs that these ministers say they believe in. For more about the old King James Version versus the New Bible Versions see our back issue May/June 2005 titled "Apostasy."

3. Denying The Power Of God

We are seeing in the last days how many are not believing that Jesus Christ is the same miracle working God today. The apostle Paul speaks of the church denying the power of God in these last days. In II Timothy 3:1-7 it says "1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." The church should be a place of power and anointing for people to be saved, healed and delivered. Instead, today we are seeing churches using live animals like a zoo and other gimmicks to get people to come back. For more information to help Christians learn about the power of God read the past issue of The Prophetic Messenger from March/April 2001 and read the article titled "Why The Church Has No Power."

4. God Told Us To Study The Bible

The apostle Paul marveled at how quickly the churches of Galatia were removed from the grace of Christ to another gospel. In Galatians 1:6-8 it says "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. " In verse 8 Paul tells us how to be discerning. He says we must know and check the scriptures to see if what is said is true. In II Timothy 2:15 it says "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." In Acts 17:10-11 it says "10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." Also, in Hebrews 5:11-14 it says "11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."

In closing, Christians must bring their Bibles to a meeting or church service and check the scriptures to confirm or reject what is being said so they will not be deceived.

Memory Verses

As Christians if we want to live in victory and if we want to be able to share the Word Of God with others we must know the Word of God ourselves. Let's see what the Bible says about this. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalm 119:11. " If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7. "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed." John 8:31. We encourage you to put the following scriptures in your heart: Joshua 24:14, Galatians 3:28, Jonah 2:2, I John 4:20, Daniel 11:32, Isaiah 26:2, Psalm 147:4, Deuteronomy 31:26, Mark 9:24, Matthew 7:3. Use only the Old King James version of the Holy Bible. (If you have any questions about this please see the book New Age Bible Versions, by G.A. Riplinger ©1993, ISBN 0-9635845-0-2.)
