Unforgiveness - Part I
" And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses." Mark 11:25In this issue of The Prophetic Messenger, we will start a message titled “Unforgiveness.”
1. Jesus Taught The Disciples To Pray
In Matthew 6, when Jesus was teaching the disciples to pray, He brought up the importance of forgiveness. In Matthew 6:9-15 it says “9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Notice in verses 14 and 15 it says “14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” If we do not forgive or have unforgiveness “neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” It is important to know that unforgiveness is sin and without repentance it will hinder our prayers from being answered. Also, in Mark 11 Jesus shares another example of how to get your prayers answered through forgiveness. In Mark 11:22-26 it says “22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. 25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”In closing, Psalm 66:18 says “18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:” In this passage David is showing that if iniquity, which is the fruit of sin, is in our heart “the Lord will not hear me:”
