Persecution is Increasing in America - Part V

"Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution" II Timothy 3:12

In this issue of The Prophetic Messenger, we will finish a message titled “Persecution is Increasing in America.”

4. When Persecution Comes Through Government Christians Must Fight Spiritually

In II Corinthians 10:3-5 it says “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

Also, in Ephesians 6:10-12 it says
“10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Even though we are in the last days, we as Christians must fight the spiritual fight to get the victory over all situations. To “be strong in the Lord” you need to have several things in your life. The three additional things are: the putting the Word of God in your heart, studying the Word of God, and being led by the Spirit of God. We will be looking all three of these today.

c) You Must Put The Word Of God In Your Heart.
(The following section is from the Prophetic Messenger March/April 2001 - Why The Church Has No Power)

There are many people today who do not have the Word of God (meaning the Old King James Version), but they have new age versions or doctrines of devils. (If you have any questions about this please see the book New Age Bible Versions, by G.A. Riplinger ©1993, ISBN 0-9635845-0-2.)

Putting The Word Of God In Your Heart
Many Christians receive the baptism in the Holy Ghost, but there is no power in their lives. Unlike the disciples, most Christians who are filled with the Holy Ghost cannot cast out devils, pray for the sick to be healed, or pray for the dead to be raised. Mark 16:17-18 says "17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." Notice in verse 17 the Bible says "these signs shall follow them that believe". The Lord Jesus told me why the disciples, after they were filled with the Holy Ghost, walked in power, and today's Christians don't. He said it is because for 3 1/2 years the disciples heard the Word of God from Jesus. After they received the Holy Ghost, the power of God was manifested through them. In Mark 16:20 it says "And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen."

d) You Must Study The Word Of God
(The following section is from the Prophetic Messenger March/April 2001 - Why The Church Has No Power)

We must not only put the word of God in our hearts, but we must also know how to find the scriptures in the Holy Bible. In II Timothy 2:15 it says "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Jesus said to the Jews which believed on him to continue in His Word. In John 8:31-32 Jesus said "31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Also, the apostle Peter said in I Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" We see in Acts 2:41-43 how the apostles taught the new Christians the apostles doctrine. In Acts 2:41-43 it says "41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles."

e) You Must Be Led By The Spirit Of God
Jesus talked about being led by the Spirit of God in John 3:5-8. In John 3:5-8 it says “5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” Also, the apostle Paul talked about being led by the Spirit of God in Romans 8:1-14. In Romans 8:1-14 it says “1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

In closing, putting the Word of God in our hearts, knowing how to study the Bible, and being led by the Spirit of God will help us become stronger in the Lord.

Memory Verses

As Christians if we want to live in victory and if we want to be able to share the Word Of God with others we must know the Word of God ourselves. Let's see what the Bible says about this. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalm 119:11. "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7. "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed." John 8:31. We encourage you to put the following scriptures in your heart: Isaiah 53:4, Psalm 18:35, Titus 3:2, I Chronicles 29:27, Acts 2:42, Proverbs 3:8, Daniel 5:25, Mark 16:20, Exodus 18:20, Mark 1:15. Use only the Old King James version of the Holy Bible. (If you have any questions about this please see the book New Age Bible Versions, by G.A. Riplinger ©1993, ISBN 0-9635845-0-2.)
