Marriage God's Way - Part III

" 4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Matthew 19:4-6

In this issue of The Prophetic Messenger we will discuss "Marriage God's way" to help those who will possibly marry in the future and to help those who are already married.

1. Forgiveness

As a Christian, you must be quick to forgive your mate. Here are the reasons why.

a) Unforgiveness Is Sin
We must remember that unforgiveness is sin and this will hinder our prayers. In Psalm 66:18 it says "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:" Also, in Mark 11:22-26 it says "22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. 25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses."

b) You Must Forgive Otherwise satan Will Accuse You Of Something
The apostle John said that satan is the accuser of the brethren. In Revelation 12:8-10 it says "8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night." Also, in II Corinthians 2:10-11 it says "10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; 11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices." If we forgive, satan cannot accuse us of anything. In I John 1:9 it says "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

2. Order In God

Here is the order of God in a Christian household:

1st - Jesus Christ - Matthew 6:33 says "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Jesus Christ must be the head of your household.

2nd - Man - I Corinthians 11:3 says "But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God."

3rd - Woman - God created woman from the man. In Genesis 2:21-23 it says "21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."

4th - Children - Ephesians 6:1 says "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right." We have more information on the order in God for the man, woman, and children in our newsletter titled "The Order of God" January/February 2003, subtitled " 3. The Order of God In The Family."

5th - Employment - One of the curses that resulted from the sin in the garden of Eden was that man would have to work to provide food for his house. In Genesis 3:19 it says "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return." Also, in II Thessalonians 3:10 it says "For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat." When we are working, we are working as to the Lord and not to men. In Ephesians 6:5-9 it says "5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; 6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: 8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. 9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him."

And last, in Galatians 3:28 it says "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Even though we are one in Jesus Christ, God has an order for the Christians. Just like everyone cannot be a minister or a boss at work, some have to be workers. Similarly in Christ there is an order and each person will have a part if they follow the order in God.

3. Communication

a) Listen And Respond To Each Other Prayerfully
In Proverbs 15:1 it says "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger." It is important that we take the time to listen to our mate and respond prayerfully.

b) Show Interest In The One Who Is Speaking
In James 1:19 it says "Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:" Notice from this scripture how Jesus Christ wants us to be swift or quick to hear, but slow to speak and slow to wrath.

In closing, we hope this series has helped explain "Marriage God's Way" and shown how married Christians relate to one another in Christ.

Memory Verses

As Christians if we want to live in victory and if we want to be able to share the Word Of God with others we must know the Word of God ourselves. Let's see what the Bible says about this. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalm 119:11. "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7. "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed." John 8:31. We encourage you to put the following scriptures in your heart: Genesis 1:1, Mark 6:17-18, James 1:23-25, Genesis 6:12-13, Titus 1:13-14, James 5:7-8, I Peter 1:7-9, Psalm 27:13-14, Ruth 4:11, Jude 1:5.
