Will The Third Temple Be Built?
"Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. II Thessalonians 2:4
In this issue of The Prophetic Messenger we will discuss "will the third temple be built" as spoken of by the apostle Paul in II Thessalonians 2:4.
In this issue of The Prophetic Messenger we will discuss "will the third temple be built" as spoken of by the apostle Paul in II Thessalonians 2:4.
1. The Book Of Daniel Speaks Of A Third Temple
The prophet Daniel speaks about the third temple in the seventy weeks in Daniel chapters 9 and 12.
a) Daniel's 70 Weeks
Verse 27 of Daniel 9 shows the antichrist standing in the future temple or third temple. In Daniel 9:27 it says "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate." In Matthew 24:15 Jesus says "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)" The scriptures show that the period of time that Jesus was speaking of in Matthew 24:15 was during the tribulation period. A few verses earlier, in Matthew 24:3, Jesus says "And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?"
b) Daniel's Prophecy Sealed To The Time Of The End
In Daniel 12:4 it says "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." Also, in Daniel 12:9 it says "And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end." In Daniel 12:11 it says "And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days." We see that the prophet Daniel was shown about how long it would take the third temple to be built which is a thousand two hundred and ninety days or 3 years and 195 days.

2. Jesus and the Apostles Speak of The Third Temple
a) Jesus Christ
When Jesus Christ was speaking about the end of the world, he mentioned the third temple. because Solomon's temple or the second temple was still in Jerusalem. In Matthew 24:15 Jesus says "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)"
b) Apostles
The apostle Paul and the apostle John both mentioned the third temple when they wrote about the last days. In II Thessalonians 2:3-4, Paul speaks of the antichrist sitting in the temple of God or the third temple which is what Daniel prophesied in the seventy weeks about the abomination of desolation. II Thessalonians 2:3-4 says "3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God." Also in Revelation 11:1-2 the apostle John says "1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. 2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months."

3. Will the Third Temple Be Built?
The third temple will be built as we have already shared from the scriptures. In II Corinthians 13:1 it says "This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established." We will also share some recent articles in the news about the third temple being built in the future.
An article titled Poll: 53% Of Israelis Want Third Temple (see note 1) says,
"Over half of all Israeli Jews would like to see the building of the third temple, according to a survey commissioned by the Reform movement's Israel Religious Action Center. The survey was commissioned for Tisha Be'av, which falls today. The fast, which marks the destruction of the First and Second Temples, ends tonight at 8:16 p.m. According ot the survey, conducted by the Dahaf Institute, a total of 53 percent of the 775 people queried said that they would like a third temple erected in the Temple Mount." This article was published on July 18, 2002 in the Jerusalem Post.
Another article titled US Politician Hopes To Speed Building Of Third Temple (see note 2), says
"Orly Benny-Davis has come a long way from her youth in Ramat Gan. Today a well-known US political activist, Benny-Davis ran for the senate last year in her home state of South Carolina. On Monday night, she was in Jerusalem to attend the 11th annual Temple Mount dinner and to help speed up the construction of the third temple. Close to 1,000 right-wing religious activists converged on the Jerusalem International Convention Center to celebrate Tu Bishvat and listen to speakers on various topics - ranging from what the economy will be like in the time of the third temple to what type of government is ideal according to the Torah.........Calling her 2004 bid for the senate 'a battle for God', Benny-Davis said she is in the process of lobbying congressmen to pass a resolution that would ensure Israel retains sovereignty over all of the holy sites, including the Temple Mount......Prior to the festive dinner, the Temple Mount Faithful met in the foyer to look at the most recent temple artifacts Rabbi Menahem Makover, of the Temple Mount Institute in the Old City, has constructed. Makover said his institute has already completed constructing all of the artifacts except for the altar, which needs to be physically constructed on the Mount..........'No one knows how the temple will be built,' he said. 'But that is not the main issue. What we are here to do is to inform people of the importance of the temple and to show them it is not a theoretical idea but is real and alive.' "
A third article titled Sanhedrin Launched In Tiberias (see note 3), says
"A unique ceremony - probably only the second of its kind in the past 1,600 years - is taking place in Tiberias today: The launching of a Sanhedrin, the highest Jewish-legal tribunal in the Land of Israel. The Sanhedrin, a religious assembly that convened in one of the Holy Temple chambers in Jerusalem, comprised 71 sages and existed during the Tannaitic period, from several decades before the Common Era until roughly 425 C.E. Details of today's ceremony are still sketchy, but the organizers' announced their intention to convene 71 rabbis who have received special rabbinic ordination as specified by Maimonides." We see from these last two articles that we will see the building of the third temple in the near future.

Memory Verses
As Christians if we want to live in victory and if we want to be able to share the Word Of God with others we must know the Word of God ourselves. Let's see what the Bible says about this. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalm 119:11. " If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7. "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed." John 8:31. We encourage you to put the following scriptures in your heart: Psalm 1:1-6, Acts 11:26, Genesis 41:46, II Corinthians 3:14, I Kings 18:24, Joshua 5:13-15, Jude 1:7, Ecclesiastes 7:19, Mark 5:25-28, Revelation 20:1-2.
