The Turkey Factor Revisited - Part III

"2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:" Ezekiel 38:2-3

In this issue of The Prophetic Messenger, we will finish our discussion about the nation of Turkey and the prophecies concerning this nation.

3. The Prophecies Concerning Turkey

In Ezekiel 38 and 39, the Bible tells us about a future war against Israel. One of the nations that will come against Israel is the nation of Turkey. By reading Genesis 10 and by studying the descendants of Shem, Ham and Japheth from historical maps, you can find the geographical locations of the nations in Ezekiel's prophecy. The name Meshech and Tubal is mentioned three (3) times in Ezekiel 38 and 39.

In Ezekiel 38:2-3 it says "2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:"

In Ezekiel 39:1 it says "Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:"

Meshech and Tubal is modern day Turkey. Notice the Biblical phrase "Gog, the land of Magog" who is the chief prince of Turkey. The land of Magog is the former U.S.S.R. and Gog is the leader. In an article titled “Ceasefire In Syria's Idlib Comes At A Cost For Turkey's Erdogan”(Note 7) it says

“. . . . After six hours of talks with Vladimir Putin, a somber Erdogan announced an accord which cements territorial gains by Russian-backed Syrian forces over Turkish-backed rebels. Returning from Russia, Erdogan said his deal with Putin will lay the ground for stability in Idlib and protect civilians who could otherwise become refugees in Turkey, after months of fighting that has displaced nearly a million people. ‘The ceasefire brings about important gains,’ he said . . . . But by freezing the front lines, and agreeing joint Russian-Turkish patrols on a major east-west highway running through Idlib, the deal consolidates Assad’s recent battlefield victories and allows Russia to deploy deeper into Idlib than before. ‘The Syrian army was stopped, but not repelled. That is perhaps Turkey’s biggest loss,’ said Ozgur Unluhisarcikli of the German Marshall Fund. Assad’s progress in weeks of fierce combat includes taking full control of the other main highway running through Idlib, the north-south road linking the capital Damascus to Aleppo and other important Syrian cities. In Moscow, Thursday’s deal was widely seen as a triumph for Putin and Assad at Erdogan’s expense. ‘The agreement is unexpectedly more favorable to Russia and Damascus...,’ said former pro-Putin lawmaker Sergei Markov. ‘Russia is winning on the battlefield and that’s why it’s winning on the diplomatic front.’”

In another article titled “Turkey Says Delivery Of Second S-400 Battery Complete”(Note 8) it says

“Turkey’s defence ministry said on Sunday that the delivery of a second battery of Russian S-400 missile defence systems has been completed as of Sunday, and added that the systems would become active in April 2020. Ankara and Washington have been at loggerheads over Turkey’s purchase of the S-400 systems, which the United States says are not compatible with NATO defenses and poses a threat to Lockheed Martin’s F-35 ‘stealth’ fighter jets. The initial parts of the system were delivered to Ankara in July despite warnings about possible U.S. sanctions over the purchase. The United States has also expelled Turkey from the F-35 programme, but Ankara has so far dismissed the warnings. In a statement, the defence ministry said the delivery of the second S-400 battery to Ankara was completed. Efforts to mount the systems and train personnel who will use them were continuing, it said, adding that it planned to activate the S-400s in April 2020. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusglu told an interview with CNN Turk on Saturday that the S-400s would be activated despite repeated U.S. warnings.”

In closing, in these two articles, we see Turkey submitting to Russia, which is part of the old Soviet Union. The act of Turkey buying weapon systems from Russia is showing us just how close we are coming to this war.

Memory Verses

As Christians if we want to live in victory and if we want to be able to share the Word Of God with others we must know the Word of God ourselves. Let's see what the Bible says about this. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalm 119:11. "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7. "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed." John 8:31. We encourage you to put the following scriptures in your heart: Colossians 2:17, Judges 13:16, I Samuel 3:10, John 20:29, Luke 13:16, Genesis 49:10, Micah 5:2, Matthew 13:11, Colossians 1:26, Genesis 41:36.
